200-year-old Khmer house in Kratie to Become Provincial museum

Recognising the value of old architecture, the Kratie Provincial Department of Culture and Fine Arts is planning to transform a 200-year-old wooden house or known as the 100-pillar house, into a new provincial museum, according to the Ministry of Information on 2 June.

Deputy Director of the Kratie Provincial Department of Culture and Fine Arts Hok Phallini, said that the 100-pillar house will become a new museum replacing the old one. The working team is now preparing to deliver all the artefacts there. The museum will be open after all the preparation work is complete.

Located in Kandor village in Chhlong district, the house was once disassembled in June last year and rebuilt in a new location in the western part of Wat Rokar Kandal. The reconstructing work was completed in April this year.
