2024 Sees a Surge in Cambodia’s Air Freight as Volume Jumps 40% with Nearly 80,000 Tons Transported

In 2024, Cambodia’s air transport sector made significant strides successfully transporting 77,852 tons of goods marking a remarkable 40% increase compared to the same period in 2023. This achievement was highlighted in a report presented by Prime Minister Hun Manet on 5 March 2025.

Air transport has emerged as a crucial strategic factor in Cambodia’s socio-economic development, enhancing travel convenience, enabling swift and secure cargo transport, and fostering trade and tourism. Moreover, it strengthens social connections and contributes substantially to national budget revenues.

The aviation sector is also flourishing on the passenger side, with air travel witnessing a 22% rise, totalling 6.24 million passengers in 2024. The number of flights has surged as well, increasing by 14% to an impressive 58,354 flights.

Cambodia currently boasts three major international airports—Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, and Sihanoukville—which serve as vital hubs for connecting international flights to 12 countries, as well as the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Taiwan. These airports facilitate travel to a total of 34 destinations globally and regionally, operated by 31 national and international airlines.

With these remarkable figures, it’s evident that Cambodia’s air transport sector is not only expanding rapidly but is also making a notable impact on the international stage, showcasing the country’s potential and vitality in global logistics and tourism.
