7-Eleven store opening in Phnom Penh delayed to year’s end

The plan to open Cambodia’s first 7-Eleven store has been delayed due to the surge in the community outbreak, with a new opening date expected to be by year’s end, according to CP All Chief Financial Officer Kriengchai Boonpoapichart.

CP All (Cambodia) Plc, the master franchisee of 7-Eleven Cambodia, set an initial plan to open the first branch this July at the Prek Phnov PPT gas station by June or July this year. However, the plan was later postponed.

Kriengchai Boonpoapichart told Thai local news efinancethai.com last week that the plan to open stores in Cambodia remained on board and set to open even before the one in Laos.

He added as neighbouring countries [Cambodia and Laos] are still facing surges in the COVID-19 pandemic cases, the firm is still doing the preparation work, with the expectation to open the first store in Cambodia by year’s end.

According to Mr Kriengchai, 7-Eleven businesses in Thailand is negatively affected by COVID-19, yet the firm will do its best to increase performance for the rest of the year, with no plan to cut staff yet.

In the first half of 2021, CPAll has opened new 311 branches in Thailand, with the plan to expand more.
