Government Discussing Draft Law on Wastewater and Drainage

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) has held a follow-up meeting and reviewed the decision on the Wastewater and Drainage Draft Law to improve sewage management and wastewater treatment system in Cambodia, according to the official Facebook page of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport.

The meeting agreed and decided to amend the composition of the Inter-Ministerial Commission and titled the draft in both Khmer and English as the Wastewater and Drainage Law.

Secretary of State of MPWT H.E. Pal Chandara said at the previous meeting on 20 May 2020 that the demand for better sanitation and wastewater management is rapidly increasing. Thus, the ministry has, to date, been studying and implementing various projects within this sector to help improve people’s health and hygiene.

In late June, the Ministry of Public Works and Transport requested US$55 million in financing from the World Bank on projects to improve water supply and sanitation systems in the city. (Read more)
