Ground Broken on US$290 million Aeon Mall 3

Japanese firm Aeon Mall (Cambodia) Co Ltd broke ground on the morning of 07 October on its third mall located long Hun Sen Blvd in south Phnom Penh, after its success with the first and second malls in Cambodia.

The ground-breaking ceremony was presided over by Phnom Penh Governor HE Khuong Sreng and Aeon representatives.

Located in Chak Angre commune, Meanchey district, this project is being built with an investment of US$290 million and has a total area of 174,000 square metres, which is larger than Aeon 1 and Aeon 2 combined.

According to the firm, the new Aeon Mall 3 is scheduled to open in 2023.

Speaking at the ceremony, H.E. Khung Sreng said the existence of three Aeon malls in Phnom Penh reflects the positive growth of the retail market in Phnom Penh.

Managing Director of CBRE Cambodia Ann Thida also expressed her optimism over this project.

“In the southern part of Phnom Penh, there are no supermarkets or malls open yet. Thus, Aeon 3 shows a great potential,” she said.

The first Aeon Mall in the capital’s Chamkarmon district opened in 2014 with a capital investment of some US$205 million. Meanwhile, Aeon Mall 2 opened in Sen Sok City in June last year, with an investment value of approximately US$120 million.
