National Police Chief Urge Strengthening Security in Condos and Boreys

The National Police and the Phnom Penh Municipal Administration have issued eight new sets of guidelines for all real estate developers to practice, aiming at strengthening security and safety in condos and boreys across Phnom Penh city.

The guidelines were announced during a joint meeting between the National Police Chief General Neth Savoeun and Phnom Penh Governor HE Khuong Sreng Kar on 08 October.Those guidelines include:

1) Strengthen the relationship between local authorities and the developers.

2) Set up a property security system, guards, and security camera, as most of the condominiums in Phnom do not have them yet

3) Set up internal regulations to manage guests, number of residents, number of vehicles, etc.

4) Set up a fire prevention system. Developers are required to have private fire-fighting trucks. Each condo build must also be equipped with an automatic fire extinguisher system on each floor.

5) Improve common services for residents such as telephone service, sanitation, security, and environment

6) Prepare any necessary documentation as required from local authorities during inspection

7) Manage the security-related staff’s roles clearly so they will be able to solve any unexpected issues on time.

8) Must hire private security agents or request to create their own, but must undergo training from the Department of Private Security Management.
