Kampong Speu to Have Safe New Open-Air Market as COVID-19 Positive Cases Surge

The Kampong Speu provincial administration has decided to set up a temporary open-air market inside Oknha Chhuon Kimsan’s land plot in downtown Kampong Speu to prevent the spread of COVID-19, as more positive cases are found in the province.

According to the official announcement on 28 April, the market will have a total of 200 stalls, and vendors can use the stalls free of charge.

HE Governor Vy Samnang said during the site inspection that this market is designed to maintain social distance with high protection.

“The new market is well-organised with proper distance between each stall and is located in an open-air area. Thus, this will help ensure the safety of both sellers and buyers,” said HE Vy Samnang.

The plan to establish this new market came after the recent surge in COVID-19 community transmissions nationwide, while the province itself is also see more and more positive cases.
