Firms from Myanmar Mull Building Factories in Kampong Speu, says Governor

Despite the current COVID-19 community outbreak and lockdown, Cambodia is still receiving investment opportunities, as plenty of firms based in Myanmar have recently expressed their interest in building factories in Kampong Speu province, according to Governor HE Vy Samnang.

HE Samnang told the Construction & Property Magazine via Telegram on 28 April that at least 20 of them have been contacting him lately.

“More importantly, some new companies who wish to relocate their factories from Myanmar to Cambodia have also been contacting us. During the Khmer New year, there were 20 of them looking for proper locations in Kampong Speu to build or rent new factories,” said HE Samnang.

HE Vy Samnang also added that factories, as well as the major investment projects both currently operating and in the pipeline, are still ongoing despite lockdown and surge in community outbreak nationwide.

“All projects are still running, none of them has been closed yet,” he said.

To date, the province is the home to over 200 investment projects, 153 of which are operational with the rest under construction. 120,000 jobs are being generated from those investment projects. (Read more)
