Internet Providers Given 3 Months to Improve Signal Quality in Boreys or Face Legal Action

The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications has given three months to internet and telephone service operators to enhance the quality of all internet and telephone services in boreys or face legal action after the deadline.

The remarks were made by HE Chea Vandeth, Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, in a meeting with mobile phone operators, internet service providers, and residents of Borey Peng Huoth last week.

This is a solution to improve the quality of telecommunications services in the city, read the ministry’s statement.

HE Chea Vandeth stated that issues related to internet and mobile phone service have affected working, doing business as well as studying during COVID-19. These issues have happened for many years, especially when the number of residents increases.

In response, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications has installed equipment to measure the quality of service and set up a team to solve these problems in boreys.

This urge to improve internet services in boreys is not new. In April this year, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications issued four new guidelines for borey and high-rise project owners to follow, to strengthen the quality of telecommunication services in Cambodia. (Read more)

In December, the Office of the Council of Ministers also issued six new measures aimed at improving the quality of carrier and internet services in boreys and high-rise buildings while emphasising that all monopoly services must be eliminated. (Read more)
