Japan Plans to Invest in Building 2000-Unit Housing Project in Siem Reap

Japanese company UR Linkage Co Ltd has unveiled a study plan to invest in building a 2,000-unit Japanese standard affordable housing project in Siem Reap.

This project was presented in the 3rd Public-Private Forum on “Cambodia-Japan Urban Development’ held on 16 February.

Named Sakura Angkor, the project is currently in the study phase and is a collaboration between Japan and Cambodia under the advice of HE Pen Sophal, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction.

Yoshimura Hiroyuki, a representative of Japan’s UR Linkage Co Ltd, said the project has a total of three phases under a five-year plan.

The first phase will have 700 housing units, while the second phase and third phase will have 800 units and 500 units, respectively.

Among the Japanese technologies and know-how, the Sakura Angkor introduces advanced smart technology that can serve as a smart city model in Cambodia.

After launching, Sakura Angkor will be sold at U$60,000 to US$70,000 per unit to attract low-to-middle-income buyers.
