Authorities Order Immediate Demolition of Small Illegal Structures in Wildlife Sanctuary

The Pursat Provincial Administration has issued a notice to immediately dismantle illegally constructed huts in the Phnom Samkos Wildlife Sanctuary protected area in Pursat province.

This is according to an announcement by the Pursat Provincial Administration on actions to clear the construction of illegal huts in the Phnom Samkos Wildlife Sanctuary protected area in Pursat province, published on 13 May 2022.

In notification No. 174 E / 22SC, the Pursat Provincial Administration said that in order to ensure the sustainable management of natural resources, it addresses the construction of rubber huts and tents, the clearing and encroaching on forest land, planting crops, and staying at Stung Khiev, at the foot of Phnom Khmoch in Chamkar Chrey Khang Tbong village, Anlong Reap commune, Veal Veng district, Pursat province.

The provincial administration also announced a period of seven days from the date of signing for the people to dismantle their huts themselves and cease all logging activities. After the expiration of the above notification period, the provincial administration will take administrative action and in case of any stubborn or rebellious people, they shall be punished according to the laws in force. Therefore, the provincial authorities ask all people who are living illegally to cooperate to implement this notice effectively and successfully.
