Ministry of Public Works Discusses Improving Logistics System

Cambodia-Japan (JICA) held a discussion on 24 May 2022 on six major points to improve the second phase of the project to improve the logistics system in Cambodia.

The discussion was chaired by HE Vasim Sorya, Under-Secretary of State, Ministry of Public Works and Transport, and experts of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

HE Vasim Sorya said that the meeting was held to review the progress of the implementation of the action plan for the next month, challenges, suggestions, and solutions, and to discuss the expected results.

On the same day, the Ministry of Public Works and Transport organized a training workshop and knowledge sharing to build capacity and strengthen institutions to prepare a framework for monitoring and evaluating the logistics sector and logistics data in Cambodia and Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam cooperation (Part 2).

The workshop was organized by the Technical Cooperation Project of the Mekong-Republic of Korea Cooperation Fund (MKCF), in a hybrid format with the participation of representatives of the Ministry of Transport of Vietnam, Laos, the Mekong Institute, national and international logistics experts, relevant departments under the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, Sihanoukville Autonomous Port, Phnom Penh Autonomous Port, the Cambodian Logistics Association (CLA) and the Cambodia Trucking Association (CAMTA).

HE Chheang Pich, Director General of the General Department of Logistics of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, highlighted the importance of the workshop in providing knowledge on the management and preparation of logistics statistics in both Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam, strengthening cooperation in the three countries to jointly build a database in the field of logistics, especially the shares of practical knowledge and experience of international logistics experts from Europe and Asia to the participants.
