MPT Committed to Eliminating Inactive & Negative Telecoms Players

The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (MPT) and 45 telecom operators announced their commitment to eliminate inactivity and negativity in the telecommunications sector in Cambodia in a meeting on 14-19 July 2022.

His Excellency Chea Vandeth, Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, said that the meeting was held to strengthen measures to solve the problem of mobile phone and internet services in accordance with Notification No. 1537 dated 08 July 2022 protecting the interests and rights of consumers to receive quality and affordable services.

He added that the ministry has informed all operators about mobile phone problems, internet service problems, and the ministry’s solutions, as well as accepting the requests and challenges faced by the company.

For any stakeholder who refuses to cooperate, the ministry will abide by the Law on Telecommunications and legal documents.

Previously, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications issued several warning messages to those involved and refused to cooperate several times. (Read more) and (Read more) and (Read more)

Recently, the MPT issued a press release on the construction of 100 additional antenna stations to improve the quality of service in priority tourist destinations and remote tourist areas. (Read more)

Samdech Hun Sen also urged mobile phone companies and internet service providers to strengthen their services in cities and expand to tourist destinations across the country at the closing ceremony of the Tourism Review Conference on 14 July 2022. (Read more)
