MISTI Drafting Law on Water Supply Management

The Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology, and Innovation (MISTIC) is drafting a law on water supply management in line with the growing demand and development of Cambodia.

MISTI Secretary of State HE Heng So Kong announced the update of the new draft law in the press conference on 11 August 2022.

“At this stage, in order to manage the water sector more efficiently with better quality and services, we have developed a draft law on water supply management,” he said.

The secretary of state added that the draft law has already passed the inter-ministerial meeting and received a lot of input from relevant ministries.

Regarding the water supply in the last 5 years to July 2022, both state and private enterprises have produced 1, 632 billion cubic meters of clean water, which represents an increase of 45.08 % compared to 5 years ago.

By 2025, the Cambodian government has set a goal that 90% of all urban residents will have access to clean water, and by 2030, urban residents will have access to 100% clean and affordable water.
