PM: Governors Must be Accountable for Public Infrastructure, Not Overly Rely on MPWT

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen has strongly ordered provincial and district governors to be responsible for public infrastructure development and maintenance and not overly rely on the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT).

Said during the ground-breaking ceremony of two flyovers on 31 August, PM Hun Sen also warned that the government position is not created to be there as a puppet, emphasizing officials must perform their duty.

He added that not only Phnom Penh and Kandal province, but all governors in every city, province, and district must pay high attention to road damage and fix it on time before the issue gets worse.

Due to the inability to perform his duty of inspecting the roads, PM Hun Sen also decided to revoke the position of the Takhmao governor.

PM Hun Sen believed that his order and action will make the current governors perform their work better, otherwise, they will be replaced.
