Gov’t Urges Hungary to Invest More in Cambodia as Bilateral Trade Up 84% Y-o-Y

Cambodia has asked Hungarian investors to study and explore more trade and investment opportunities in Cambodia, as the two countries’ trade volume has increased significantly, reaching more than US$7 million in 2022. 

This is according to the meeting between Secretary of State of the Ministry of Commerce HE Tek Reth and new Ambassador of Hungary to the Kingdom of Cambodia HE Dr Tibor Balogdhi on 3 February. 

HE Tek Reth said that investment should focus on the import of agricultural and industrial products from Cambodia. 

In 2022, the bilateral trade volume reached about US$7.44 million, an increase of about 84% compared to 2020. 

Cambodia exports goods to Hungary, including clothing, footwear, rice, grains, vegetables, tobacco, pharmaceutical products, and leather goods. 

As for imported goods, Cambodia imported from Hungary various items made of common metals, organic chemicals, dairy products, artificial fibres, processed products from meat, fish or grains, etc.
