PM Hun Sen reiterated his stance against allowing exclusive telephone or internet service providers in Borey

Prime Minister Hun Sen reiterated his stance against allowing exclusive telephone or internet service providers within residential developments, during the inauguration ceremony of the new location of the Royal University of Fine Arts in Phnom Penh on 24th May 2023. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of ensuring accessibility and convenience for residents by fostering cooperation between apartment companies and internet service providers or mobile phone companies.

Furthermore, Prime Minister Hun Sen called upon mobile phone companies to increase the number of antennas across the country, particularly in areas surrounding residential developments, to ensure sufficient internet coverage for nearby residents. In a bid to address concerns about internet service quality, the Prime Minister instructed the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications to investigate Home Internet, an internet service provider operating within cities.

It is worth noting that Prime Minister Hun Sen previously issued a directive prohibiting the presence of exclusive internet service providers in residential developments area or Borey, warning that failure to comply could lead to the revocation of their licenses. These measures aim to promote fair competition and enhance internet accessibility for residents across the country. (Read more)
