NEC Breaks Ground on State-of-the-Art Office Building Valued at Over US$20m

In a momentous ceremony held on 2 January 2024, HE Prach Chan, Chairman of the National Election Committee (NEC), presided over the groundbreaking event for the NEC’s new office building—a prestigious project valued at over US$21 million. Nestled on Lot 71, Sothearos Street, Sangkat Tonle Bassac, Khan Chamkarmon, Phnom Penh, this iconic structure signifies a significant leap forward for the NEC.

HE Hang Puthea, a distinguished member of the NEC, shared key details about the ambitious project. The 9-storey office building, sprawling across 32,000 square metres, is slated for completion within 22 months. The investment of over US$21 million underscores the commitment to providing the NEC with a cutting-edge and expansive workspace.

Beyond its utilitarian functions, the new office building boasts a 450-seat auditorium adorned with state-of-the-art LED lighting. This strategic feature aligns with the NEC’s dedication to technological advancements, fostering increased trust among political parties and the public alike. The NEC’s unwavering commitment to embracing evolving technologies not only enhances the electoral process but also elevates confidence in the democratic framework.

As the NEC continues its pivotal role in shaping Cambodia’s democratic landscape, the new office building stands as a testament to progress and innovation. The completion of this architectural marvel is not merely a construction milestone; it signifies a leap into a future where cutting-edge facilities converge with democratic principles, fostering an environment conducive to transparency, efficiency, and public trust.

In the heart of Phnom Penh, the NEC’s new office building emerges as a beacon of progress, symbolising the nation’s commitment to advancing its democratic institutions into a new era.
