Cambodia’s construction sector continues its upward trajectory as the nation imported construction materials worth a notable US$1.33 billion in 2023, marking a modest increase from the previous year.

The report released by the General Department of Customs and Excise reveals a 0.33% uptick in the import value of construction materials compared to the 2022 figure of US$1.325 billion, signalling sustained growth and development in the industry.

Diving into the specifics, the breakdown indicates that Cambodia imported cement with a total value of nearly US$20 million, representing a 21% decrease. On the other hand, iron and steel imports recorded a noteworthy increase, reaching US$372 million, reflecting a robust growth rate of 3.5%. (Read more)
