Cambodian Gov’t  Drafting Law to Regulate Railway Land & Prevent Misuse

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport is actively drafting a sub-decree to regulate railway crossings and land use, aiming to mitigate congestion and facilitate development.

This initiative was discussed during a meeting held by the Ministry of Public Works and Transport on 4 July 2024, attended by ministry leadership and a technical working group.

The primary objective of the sub-decree is to ensure that railway lands are not encroached upon for construction or farming, thereby preventing accidents and maintaining the integrity of the railway network.

Additionally, the regulation aims to eliminate obstacles to railway development and reduce government expenditure on addressing the impact on residents living near the railway. This legislative measure will support the rightful owners of the railway network and promote sustainable infrastructure development across Cambodia.
