The Cambodian government has announced to stop accepting funding for the construction of the border ring road by October 31

As of now, the Cambodian government has raised over $26 million for the construction of border infrastructure and will stop accepting donations after October 31, 2024.

According to an announcement from the Cabinet of Samdech Thibodi Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, released on October 20, 2024, nearly 700,000 citizens have collectively donated $26,332,883.00. These funds will be allocated to building border infrastructure, primarily focusing on the construction of a border ring road.

Additionally, the government has encouraged both domestic and foreign citizens who wish to contribute voluntarily to the “Border Infrastructure Fund” to contact the fund team and make their donations to the designated bank account before the October 31 deadline.

It’s important to note that the “Border Infrastructure Fund” was introduced by Samdech Manet in a video statement on August 22, 2024. This initiative aims to provide opportunities for Cambodians from all backgrounds, both within the country and abroad, to directly support the Royal Government’s efforts in national defence and development, fostering Khmer national unity while maintaining territorial integrity and promoting development in border areas.
