In just 10 months, the Cambodian government has addressed 165 stalled projects in Sihanoukville. The Sihanoukville Investment Promotion Team has introduced a special incentive program for these projects, following the announcement made by Samdech Prime Minister Hun Manet on January 31, 2024, which will remain in effect until October 2024. This information was shared on the official Facebook page of the task force on October 24, 2024.

According to the same source, all projects approved for this special incentive include micro, small, medium, and large initiatives from local and foreign companies across Sihanoukville’s cities and districts. This encompasses 23 projects with investment capital exceeding 100 million US dollars.

Of the 165 projects, 85 are related to stalled buildings, 61 are new projects, 15 are expansion projects, and 4 are existing projects.

In October alone, 25 projects with a total investment of 917 million US dollars received preliminary approval for special incentives in Sihanoukville. Among these 25 projects, 12 are associated with frozen buildings, 12 are new projects, and 1 is an expansion project. Notable examples include a home decoration equipment factory, a bag factory, and a multifunctional paper factory that offers accommodation, hotel, restaurant, and resort services.

Additionally, tourist resorts on Koh Rong are developed and backed by Polish investments to attract tourists from Europe and beyond. This trend is promising for enhancing the investment climate and diversifying the tourist demographic.

The projects also cover key potential areas such as solar energy, component production, business centres, and agro-industrial park initiatives.
