Evercore Focuses on Clean Energy Investment in Cambodia

The Global investment banking firm Evercore is interested in investing in Cambodia’s clean energy sector. During a meeting on 8 January 2025 between Prime Minister Hun Manet and Evercore Asia President Keith Magnus, the firm also expressed interest in the country’s emerging sectors, including energy, health, and tourism.

Magnus emphasized Evercore’s operations and its intention to promote cooperation with Cambodia in renewable energy, health, and tourism.

In response, Prime Minister Hun Manet welcomed Evercore’s interest and outlined Cambodia’s energy sector development policy. Currently, Cambodia utilizes 62% renewable energy and aims to increase this figure to 70% by 2030. The Prime Minister also highlighted policies aimed at strengthening and expanding health services nationwide.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister noted Cambodia’s potential in agriculture, manufacturing, finance, and banking, encouraging Evercore to explore these areas as well. He urged the company to continue discussions with relevant ministries and institutions to foster cooperation between the private sectors of both nations.
