Toyota to Plan Technical Training Center for the Automotive Industry in Cambodia

In a significant development for Cambodia’s automotive sector, Toyota Tsusho Manufacturing (Cambodia) Co., Ltd. has unveiled plans to establish a technical training center aimed at enhancing skills within the industry.

During a recent meeting between H.E. Chea Wutthy, Secretary General of the Cambodia Investment Committee, and Mr. Kensuke Tsuchiya, President of Toyota Tsusho Manufacturing (Cambodia), the initiative was discussed, marking a promising step in addressing the growing need for skilled professionals in the automotive field.

Mr. Tsuchiya emphasized that the training center will not only focus on training Toyota employees but will also be open to the general Cambodian population, thereby contributing to the nation’s workforce development.

H.E. Chea Wutthy expressed strong support for this investment, noting that it aligns with the government’s human resource development policy, particularly the ambitious goal of 1.5 million vocational and technical training opportunities. He voiced optimism that this essential project will be realized in the near future.

Toyota Tsusho Manufacturing (Cambodia) previously received approval in 2022 from the Cambodia Investment Committee to establish a car assembly plant in the Royal Group Special Economic Zone in Phnom Penh, which will produce popular models like the Toyota Fortuner and Toyota Hilux. This new training center is expected to further boost the automotive industry’s growth in Cambodia, fostering a skilled labor force and contributing to the local economy.
