US Firm Argentem Creek to Invest in Cambodia’s Financial Sector

In a significant move for Cambodia’s financial landscape, US-based Argentem Creek has announced its intention to invest in the country’s financial sector. The announcement was made following a pivotal meeting between Ms. Chea Serey, Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia, and Mr. Maarten Terlouw, President and Co-CEO of Argentem Creek, held on August 4, 2025.

During their discussions, Mr. Terlouw emphasized that Argentem Creek, a major investment venture of the Salmon Group—a leading fintech operator in the Philippines—aims to broaden its footprint in Southeast Asia, with Cambodia emerging as a key target. He underlined the company’s focus on digital finance and stressed the importance of supportive regulations to foster financial innovation.

Governor Chea Serey welcomed Argentem Creek’s interest, highlighting Cambodia’s open investment laws, which facilitate foreign investments and ample development of financial infrastructure. “We are committed to creating a favorable environment for investors, and we believe that initiatives like Argentem Creek’s will significantly contribute to our financial sector,” she pointed out.

Additionally, Ms. Serey provided insights into successful strategies for first-time investors in Cambodia’s financial sector, aiming to instill confidence and encourage more investment in the region. She also urged companies to engage with industry experts to make informed investment decisions.

In a bid to deepen understanding of Cambodia’s economic and monetary history, the National Bank of Cambodia encouraged potential investors to visit the Preah Srei Isanvarman (S.S.R.) Museum.

As Cambodians look toward a promising future in financial innovation, the collaboration with foreign investors like Argentem Creek is poised to play a crucial role in the country’s economic development.
