Cambodia and Malaysia have pledged to enhance collaboration in agriculture to further boost bilateral trade

This commitment was stated during a meeting on October 6, 2025, between H.E. Dith Tina, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries of Cambodia, and H.E. Datuk Dr. Abdul Rahman Junaidi, Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office of Sarawak, Malaysia.

During the meeting, both officials emphasized their dedication to strengthening agricultural cooperation to ensure food security and promote trade, particularly in the rice sector. They expressed intentions to develop a robust long-term partnership by connecting value chains and production processes. The Cambodian delegation also affirmed its readiness to supply agricultural products to Malaysia and support Malaysian investors in the Cambodian agriculture sector.

Furthermore, H.E. Dith Tina welcomed the opportunity to deepen cooperation in Cambodian agriculture, particularly through the exchange of cultivation techniques. He discussed the potential for expanding markets for rice, meat products, and other promising agricultural products from Cambodia to help secure food supply for Sarawak. He also pointed out investment opportunities in the processing, packaging, and export of Cambodian agricultural goods, which would benefit both nations.

Recently, the Cambodian Chamber of Commerce highlighted the strong economic relationship between Cambodia and Malaysia. In 2024, the bilateral trade volume between the two countries reached approximately USD 859 million.
