India Emerges as Hub for Digital Engineering as Bentley Systems Inks Major Academic Deals

Bentley Systems has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with two of Pune’s premier academic institutions: Symbiosis Institute of Technology (SIT) and COEP Technological University.

The collaboration centers on establishing a Centre for Infrastructure Innovation at each campus. These hubs will provide students and faculty with hands-on access to advanced digital twin and AI technologies, specifically focusing on sustainable infrastructure and asset management.

The partnership aims to bridge the gap between academic theory and industry practice, aligning with India’s “Viksit Bharat 2047” vision for a technologically advanced nation.

The dual agreements, signed on December 16, 2025, signal a major investment in the “next generation of engineers” by bringing world-class digital tools directly into the classroom.

The cornerstone of these MoUs is the creation of a Centre for Infrastructure Innovation on both campuses. These dedicated research and learning hubs will focus on next-gen tech such as training in AI, digital twins, and asset lifecycle management. Besides, students will also have direct access to Bentley’s professional suite, including MicroStation, OpenRoads, and OpenFlows.

Leaders from both academia and industry emphasized that the partnership is about more than just software; it is about career readiness.

“Our collaborations reflect Bentley’s commitment to empowering India’s next generation of engineers,” said Kamalakannan Thiruvadi, Bentley’s Regional Executive for South Asia. “We aim to nurture innovators who can lead the transformation of India’s infrastructure landscape.”

The timing of these partnerships is strategic. As India pushes toward its Viksit Bharat 2047 goals—a vision for a fully developed nation—the demand for engineers skilled in digital construction and sustainable design is at an all-time high. By tailoring global best practices to local needs, Bentley Systems and these Pune-based universities are creating a blueprint for how industry-academia partnerships can fuel national growth.
