Cambodia Achieves Record-Breaking 1.5 Billion Dollar Revenue from Cashew Exports in 2025

Strategic trade with Vietnam drives a 27 percent surge in volume as the Kingdom solidifies its position as a global leader in raw cashew nut production

The Cambodian cashew industry has reached a historic milestone, generating 1.5 billion dollars in revenue from the export of raw cashew nuts throughout the year 2025. According to a comprehensive report released by the Cashew Association of Cambodia on January 2, 2026, the nation successfully exported approximately 1,000,757 tons of raw nuts to international markets, with Vietnam remaining the primary destination for the Kingdom’s agricultural output. This remarkable achievement represents a 27 percent increase in export volume compared to the figures recorded in 2024, signaling a robust era of growth for local farmers and the national agricultural sector.

The 2025 fiscal year has been described as a period of exceptional potential for the industry, characterized by favorable weather conditions and improved farming techniques that allowed production to surpass the one million ton threshold. While Vietnam continues to be the largest buyer of Cambodian raw cashews, the surge in revenue is also attributed to higher global demand and more competitive pricing for high-quality nuts. Association officials noted that the 1.5 billion dollar income marks a significant leap from the previous year, providing a vital economic boost to rural provinces where cashew cultivation is a primary source of livelihood.

Beyond raw exports, the Cambodian government has been actively promoting the National Cashew Policy 2022-2027, which aims to transform the country from a raw material supplier into a leading processor of finished cashew products. By encouraging the establishment of local processing plants, the state hopes to add more value to the crops before they leave the country, thereby creating more jobs and increasing the overall profit margins for the industry. The 2025 results provide a solid foundation for these ambitions, demonstrating that Cambodia has the scale and productivity to compete on a global stage alongside major producers like the Ivory Coast and India.

As the industry moves into 2026, the focus is shifting toward sustainability and the diversification of export markets beyond neighboring countries. The Cashew Association of Cambodia is working closely with international partners to meet stringent food safety standards in Europe and North America, which would allow Cambodian cashews to command even higher prices. With over a million tons now being produced annually, the Kingdom is well on its way to achieving its goal of becoming a “Cashew Emperor” in the global market, ensuring that the golden nut remains a cornerstone of Cambodia’s economic prosperity for years to come.
