Expat Serving Expats

Thanks to the thriving economy, many expats are now coming to Cambodia and observers predict more will come after ASEAN Integration in 2015. Anna Araki, a Japanese expat with several years living in Cambodia, has big business plans to serve her expat counterparts.

In December last year, Araki, established three firms; AnnaCam Partners, AnnaCam Land and Bit Investment, all specializing in investment consultants. In June this year, she opened a house renting agency called ‘Anna Home’ targeting expats seeking high-end accommodation in Phnom Penh.

“Basically, there were not many real estate services focusing on foreigners who need safe a residence with peace of mind. That’s why we focus on foreigners by introducing them to good quality property,” she said, explaining the inspiration behind the business.

Presently, Anna Home only specializes in finding excellent serviced apartments around the Beoung Keng Kong I (BKK1) Area because the agency believes this zone is the safest and most comfortable neighborhood. However, in the long term, they will expand to other zones of the city as well.

What makes Anna Home’s services special is that when a client signs a contract, the company will assist in transporting the client’s luggage to the new residence. “What makes our service different from existing agencies is that customers can choose the color of furniture they like as we manage the units by ourselves,” she added.

Despite established competition, Anna Araki predicts the new business will have a rosy future, believing the sector has room for growth amid the rising arrivals of expats.
