Construction Company Requests Cambodian Labourers to Work in Singapore

Ken-Pal (S) Pte Ltd, a prominent Singaporean construction company, has expressed interest in hiring construction workers from Cambodia. CEO Mr. Gregory Lin met with HE Dr. Ith Sam Heng, Cambodia’s Minister of Labour and Vocational Training on 3 March 2023 to discuss the potential partnership.

The minister welcomed the proposal, stating that it would provide an opportunity for Cambodian workers to enhance their skills, earn better wages, and contribute to society with their knowledge and experience. He noted that the ministry has already provided construction training to young people to help boost their capabilities.

To proceed with recruitment, training, and deployment of workers, both countries will need to establish appropriate procedures and agreements. Cambodia has previously sent over 1,000 domestic workers to work in Singapore, where working conditions are considered safe and compensation is high.

Ken-Pal (S) Pte Ltd was founded in 1989 and specialises in meeting the needs of both public and private construction projects. The company has received numerous accolades for its outstanding work in construction, health, safety, and environmental management.

Apart from meeting with the labour minister, Mr. Lin also visited the Kosomak Polytechnic Institute and the National Polytechnic Institute of Cambodia to learn more about the civil construction curricula. This move underscores the company’s commitment to enhancing its operations in Cambodia and supporting the local workforce.
