Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport Received 900k Passengers, Expected to Hit 1.5 Million by Year-End

After nearly a year of operation, the Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport has welcomed approximately 900,000 passengers, with projections to reach 1.3 million by October and 1.5 million by the end of 2024.

This milestone was announced during a working session between the Chairman of Angkor International Airport Investment (Cambodia) Co., Ltd. (AIAI), Lu Wei, and HE Chea Vuthy, Secretary General of the Investment Committee of Cambodia, on 4 September 2024.

HE Chea Vuthy commended the airport’s vital role in enhancing Cambodia’s connectivity and its positive economic impact, further strengthening the country’s position as a prime destination for global travellers.

The airport, which was officially opened on 16 November 2023 by PM Samdech Hun Manet, represents a major development for Cambodia’s tourism and economy. Constructed by AIAI at a total investment of USD 1.1 billion, the airport has become a key gateway, attracting international tourists to Siem Reap and contributing significantly to the nation’s economic growth.
