Construction on Kampong Speu international standard stadium to begin in May

Construction on an international standard stadium in Kampong Speu worth approximately US$2 million will begin next week as the project plan study has been recently completed according to H.E. Vy Samnang, Kampong Speu Administrator, in an interview with Construction & Property Magazine on 11 May 2020.

“Before choosing a plan, we have to study other countries’ experiences as well. Our lawmakers have just decided on the plan. Hence, the construction will begin next week, and at the moment we are sending construction workers to the field,” he said.

He added that the “COVID-19 crisis does not affect this stadium process, because there are no new cases in Cambodia, and now we only have two patients left to be cured. Notably, in Kampong Speu, we have never had any cases. Therefore, the process of construction of this new international standard stadium can continue as usual.”

The ground was officially broken on this 4-hectare international stadium complex on 15 December 2019, with the US$2 million costs funded by Naga World Foundation. The project set to be finished ahead of the 2023 SEA Games which Cambodia is hosting.

The stadium is located in Tamol village in Chabar Mon town, Kampong Speu province. (Read more)
