APSARA Authority Approves 5191 Construction Cases in Protected Area During H1

During the first six months of 2021, the APSARA Authority has allowed residents living in the protected area, both inside and outside the Angkor Archaeological Park, to repair and construct a total of 5,191 residences, while continuing to strictly warn against the purchase and sale of land in that area.

According to the statement issued by the APSARA Authority on 24 August, over 5,000 cases were given to 712 people in Prasat Bakong district, 992 cases in Angkor Thom district, 986 cases in Puok district, 986 cases in Puok district, 1165 in Siem Reap city, and 1290 cases in Banteay Srei district.

The APSARA Authority also pledged to keep educating the people to better understand the land use policy in the protected area.

This authority has repeatedly warned the public to immediately cease any land buying and selling transactions in the Angkor heritage protected site or face legal action. The warning came after seeing frequent posts on Facebook about land sales in the protected area.
