Cambodia is set to significantly upgrade its environmental infrastructure with the procurement of advanced, smokeless incinerators from Japan. These specialized units are designed to safely process both medical and plastic waste, supporting the nation’s long-term goal of a cleaner and healthier environment. Upon his return from a diplomatic mission to Japan on February 19, 2026, Environment Minister Eang Sophalleth announced that the government had already finalized the purchase of several of these high-tech machines.

The long-term vision for this initiative is to ensure that every district across the Kingdom is equipped with these modern facilities. By utilizing smokeless technology, the Ministry of Environment aims to address the growing challenges of waste management without contributing to air pollution.
