Cambodia and China Enhance Bilateral Trade and Investment Cooperation

In a strategic effort to bolster economic ties, Cambodia’s Ministry of Commerce has partnered with a delegation from the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade in Guangdong Province (CCPIT Guangdong) to advance bilateral trade and investment cooperation. This initiative was highlighted during a meeting on September 27, 2025, between Ms. Svay Nakri, Undersecretary of State of the Ministry of Commerce, and His Excellency CHEN Xiaofeng, President of CCPIT Guangdong.

The discussions centered on expanding trade relations and exploring business opportunities between Cambodia and Guangdong Province. Both parties showcased a strong commitment to identifying investment potential within Cambodia, with an emphasis on the agricultural sector.

The Ministry of Commerce encouraged Chinese investors to delve into Cambodia’s agricultural products, fostering trade partnerships with local businesses. This collaboration aims to not only promote investments but also to enhance digital trade, strengthen supply chains, and diversify global trade networks. The overarching goal is to facilitate import-export activities and deepen the friendship between Cambodia and China.

Recent reports from the General Department of Customs and Excise reveal positive trends in trade volumes. In the first seven months of 2025, Cambodia’s trade with major global economies surged to over USD 36 billion, reflecting a 16.5% increase compared to the same period in 2024. Notably, trade with China exceeded USD 11 billion, marking a remarkable 26% growth, while trade with the United States reached over USD 7 billion, demonstrating a 25.8% increase. (Read more)
