Cambodia and China Sign Skills Training Pact to Enhance Workforce Readiness

Cambodia and China celebrated a significant milestone in skills development with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Zhejiang Construction Technician College (ZCTC) and Cambodia’s Polytechnic Institute of Pursat Province (PIPP) in Zhejiang. This agreement aims to bolster Cambodia’s technical and vocational education and training (TVET) system to meet the demands of emerging industries, particularly in the construction sector.

Supported by the ILO/China Partnership Programme, the MoU establishes a framework for long-term collaboration, including intelligent construction technologies, faculty exchanges, and joint vocational training programs to enhance Cambodian youth’s employability. The initiative also facilitates student and teacher exchanges, skills competitions, and research projects.

During the signing ceremony, officials highlighted the importance of equipping youth with relevant market skills, as Cambodia’s construction industry is experiencing rapid growth. ILO/China Project Manager Tian Feng praised the agreement, stating that it provides tangible opportunities for young Cambodians to access advanced skills training and modern facilities.

This partnership not only addresses skills gaps but also strengthens cultural ties while supporting sustainable national development as part of the Belt and Road Initiative. With this agreement, Cambodia is strategically investing in its human capital to ensure its workforce is prepared for future challenges in various industries.
