Cambodia Earns Over USD 31m from Angkor, Koh Ker, and Boat Rides in 8 Months

In the first eight months of 2024, Cambodia generated an impressive USD 31,049,140 from ticket sales to the Angkor Archaeological Park, Koh Ker, and boat rides, according to a report from the Angkor Institute released on 1 September 2024.

During this period, 651,857 foreign tourists visited Angkor, contributing USD 30,334,229 to the total revenue, marking a significant 31.36% increase compared to the same timeframe in 2023.

In August alone, the Angkor Institute recorded earnings of USD 3,156,799 from 67,482 tickets sold to international visitors, representing a 13.78% rise from August 2023. The report also detailed that Koh Ker ticket sales reached USD 197,610, while boat rides brought in USD 517,301 over the same period.

Tourists visiting Angkor have the option to purchase tickets at USD 37 for a one-day pass, USD 62 for a three-day pass, and USD 72 for a week-long entry.

To further improve the experience at Angkor, the Cambodian government has announced six major reforms aimed at streamlining ticket sales and inspections within the park. These efforts, along with rising tourism numbers, signal a strong recovery in Cambodia’s tourism sector, with key cultural landmarks continuing to attract global visitors.(Read more)
