Cambodia Establishes Digitalised Manufacturing Centre

The Japanese government, through the Embassy of Japan in Cambodia, has provided approximately US$4.5 million to support the operation of a digitalised manufacturing centre, located at the Royal University of Phnom Penh.

The grant was announced at a press conference on 14 October under the chairmanship of RUPP Chair of board HE Dr Mey Kalyan, Japanese Ambassador to Cambodia HE Mikami Masahiro, and RUPP Reactor HE Chet Chealy.

The centre building is to be built on the campus of the university under a fund of the Royal Government, while the curriculum and technical materials are supported by the Japanese grant.

Through the centre, the Royal University of Phnom Penh has partnered with the Japanese-German joint venture DMG-MORI, the world’s number one company in the production of state-of-the-art CNC machines in its curriculum.

Private sectors such as hitech companies operating in PPSEZ like Minebea and Denso are operating in the project.

In the future, the centre will also play a key role in supporting other industries in the country to shift toward a new revolutionised smart digital manufacturing.
