The National Customs School was designated the “11th Asia-Pacific Training Center” of the World Customs Organization at the 143/144 Customs Cooperation Council Meeting in June 2024 in Brussels, Belgium. During this meeting, the General Department of Customs and Excise of Cambodia and the World Customs Organization signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish the World Customs Organization’s Asia-Pacific Training Center in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Ricardo Treviño, Deputy Secretary-General of the World Customs Organization, expressed his expectations for the new regional training centre to significantly impact the organization’s training activities and events.

Dr Aun Porn Moniroth emphasized that the recognition of the National Customs School as a training centre for the Asia-Pacific region will enhance its role in human capital development and knowledge exchange, benefiting not only Cambodian Customs and Excise officials but also customs officials in the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.

It’s worth noting that the National Customs School was inaugurated in December 2021 under the leadership of Samdech Techo Hun Sen, former Prime Minister of Cambodia. The building in Phnom Penh spans 12 floors, is 49 meters long, and 48 meters wide, and covers a total area of 20,225 square meters, with a construction cost of $14 million. (Read more)
