MPWT Officially Launches Cambodia’s Third EV Charging Station in Siem Reap

A new EV charging station in Siem Reap was officially launched on 14 September by Minister of Public Works and Transport HE Sun Chanthol and Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Butchaiah Gadde.

Located in Boeung Doun Pa village, Sangkat Slor Kram, Siem Reap city, this station is Cambodia’s third EV charging station provided by ADB, while the fourth one is set for Battambang city.

According to HE Sun Chanthol, during the first seven months of 2022,  a total of 305 electric vehicles were registered, an 1806% increase compared to the same period last year. This increase is a reflection of the understanding and support of Cambodian citizens toward climate change mitigation.

As of September, the ministry has put into operation three EV charging stations nationwide, at the ministry office, Sihanoukville, and Siem Reap.
