Cambodia’s Construction Sector Investment Value US$60.8 billion since 2000

In the past two decades, the construction sector has the major backbone of Cambodia’s economic growth, with the investment value reaching over US$60.8 billion, according to Minister of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction HE Chea Sophara.

During the 2nd Public-Private Forum on Cambodia-Japan Urban Development held on 16 February, HE Chea Sophara said that investment in the construction sector has been increasing exponentially since 2000.

“Despite this growth, we still have additional investment such as housing development especially the affordable sector, infrastructure development, road network, water supply, electricity, sewerage, flood protection, wastewater treatment plants, waste management, green space, and other urban development projects,” said the minister.

HE Chea Sophara also expressed optimism that growth in the construction sector will help Cambodia to achieve its goal to become a high middle-income country by 2030 and a high-income country by 2050.
