Cambodia’s Rice Exports Surge in 2025, Surpassing USD 400 Million

In a remarkable achievement for its agricultural sector, Cambodia has generated over USD 400 million from rice exports in the first nine months of 2025, according to a recent report by the Cambodian Rice Federation. The country successfully exported rice to 69 countries during this period, with total exports valued at approximately USD 408.93 million.

The report highlights that a total of 596,341 tons of rice was shipped from Cambodia via 57 exporting companies. Notably, 248,277 tons were sent to 26 European nations, contributing USD 192.04 million to the economy. Exports to China and Hong Kong accounted for 143,187 tons worth USD 85.04 million, while 131,544 tons were dispatched to seven ASEAN countries, valued at USD 67.14 million. Additionally, 73,333 tons were exported to various destinations across Africa, the Middle East, the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, bringing in USD 64.71 million.

The exported rice comprised various types, with fragrant rice making up 68.81% of the total exports. Other varieties included long-grain white rice (16.18%), brown rice (2.44%), organic rice (1.88%), broken rice (10.13%), and a small fraction of other rice types (0.56%).

The Cambodian rice sector continues to be a cornerstone of the national economy and a crucial player in maintaining food security. In 2024, the sector generated nearly USD 2 billion, underscoring its importance to both livelihoods and international trade. (Read more)
