Sailun Group to Boost Cambodia’s Rubber Processing Industry with Expanded Investment

Chinese tyre manufacturing giant Sailun Group has announced a substantial plan to increase its investment in Cambodia’s rubber processing industry, aiming to expand the output of its Svay Rieng-based tyre factory.

This key decision was highlighted during discussions held between Yuan Zhongxue, Honorary Chairman of Sailun Group, and PMHun Manet at the 8th Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Summit in Kunming, China, on 6-7 November 2024.

At the meeting, Mr. Yuan confirmed Sailun’s intentions to intensify its processing of rubber into various high-demand products, particularly tyres, with a focus on both domestic and international markets.

PMHun Manet voiced firm support for this expanded investment, recognising its potential to boost Cambodia’s production capacity, strengthen economic development, and bring new employment opportunities. He encouraged Sailun Group to collaborate closely with relevant ministries to ensure smooth facilitation of the project.

Sailun Group has a history of investing in Cambodia, beginning with the establishment of its tyre manufacturing plant in Bavette City, Svay Rieng Province. The company is also preparing to establish the Kampot Special Economic Zone, reflecting Sailun’s growing commitment to integrating its operations within Cambodia’s industrial infrastructure and regional economy.
