Chinese Firm Plants Thousands of Trees to Create 35km Green Belt Along PP-SHV Expressway

The Chinese company responsible for the Phnom Penh -Sihanoukville expressway construction is planting thousands of saplings to create a 35-kilometre-long green belt along the new expressway.

According to their Facebook post on 17 March, those trees were planted to increase greenery and reduce noise in vulnerable areas such as schools and pagodas.

The PP-SHV expressway has a total length of over 190km connecting Village 1, Sangkat Samrong Krom, Khan Por Senchey, Phnom Penh to Village 1, Sangkat 3, Sihanoukville.

The project is expected to cost a total of US$2 billion and is being built by China Bridge and Road Corporation (CRBC) through Cambodian PPSHV Expressway Co., Ltd.

The project is now more than 80% complete and is scheduled to be put into operation temporarily in July 2022, faster than scheduled. (Read more)
