City Hall to Transform Stueng Meanchey into a Model Liveable Community

The Phnom Penh Capital Administration plans to re-organise, build, and upgrade public infrastructure in the Stung Meanchey area to transform the community into a model organised liveable community.

According to an official meeting held on 7 March, the project will include building public spaces, common areas, community centres, sidewalks, gyms, gardens, among other amenities.

The project also includes redesigning the façades and floorplans of some disorganised houses as well as enhancing the city’s aesthetics.

This project is under the urban planning and land management project for disorganised communities funded by the Association Internationale des Maires Francophones (AIMF), Paris City Hall, and the European Union (EU).

Besides this project, city hall has also outlined a strategic roadmap to convert Phnom Penh into a smart city through the transformation of five main focus areas including land use, safety & security, urban mobility, environment, and digital management. (Read more)
