Construction Firms From Korea Eye Infrastructure Investment in Sihanoukville

International Contractors Association of Korea (ICAK) has unveiled to invest in the infrastructure and telecommunication in coastal Preah Sihanoukville province, where construction, real estate, and tourism are booming.

In a meeting with H.E. Say Sam Al, Minister of Environment held on 03 June, Mr Lee Kun Ki, Chairman of ICAK, expressed his interests in strengthening the cooperation on environment management in Cambodia, particularly projects of infrastructure and telecommunication investments in Preah Sihanoukville province.

The investment in Cambodia as well as in Preah Sihanoukville is to enhance the cooperation between Cambodia and South Korea on construction and engineering sector, Mr Lee said.

Through the cooperation, it will contribute in developing the infrastructure, telecommunication, ports, railway, and airports, Mr Lee added.

In reply, H.E. Say Sam Al welcomed the projects and said that enhancing the cooperation will help and boost the development in Cambodia.

“Preah Sihanoukville province is the potential province on economy and tourism in Cambodia and the province is developing in all sectors,” H.E. Say Sam Al said.

Kheang Phearum, spokesman at Preah Sihanoukville Provincial Municipal, welcomes to the project, citing that the project will contribute in improving infrastructure system in the province.

“We welcome to all investment projects due to Preah Sihanoukville province has fast development of economy and construction sector, so we need investments on infrastructure because at the moment, streets in the city have been damaged due to busies transporting of building materials,” Mr Phearum said.

“However, with efforts of the municipal, some of damaged streets have been restored,” Mr Phearum said.
