Construction Sector Grows 23% Annually

The construction sector has grown at rate of 23% each year, according to H.E. Aun Porn Moniroth, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF).

Speaking at the 18th ‘Government-Private Sector Forum’ held at the Peace Palace on 29 March 2019, H.E. Aun Porn Moniroth reported on the progress of the Cambodian economy, in which he said that the construction sector has grown strongly with an annual rate of up to 23%.

Investment value in the sector in 2018 was US$5.7 billion, while in January 2019 the investment was recorded as more than US$800 million, a 178% jump compared to the same period of 2018.

Meanwhile, the Ministry Land Management, Urban Planning, and Construction (MLMUPC) has, to date, given licenses to a total of 2,307 construction companies, more than 2,500 architects, and more than 30,000 engineers. (Read more)
