Daikin Expands Operations in Cambodia, Paving the Way for Industrial Growth

Japanese air conditioning leader Daikin has officially expanded its operations in Cambodia, highlighting the nation’s growing appeal to international investors. The inauguration ceremony, held on 22 November 2024, was presided over by HE Hem Vandy, Minister of Industry, Science, Technology, and Innovation, who applauded Daikin’s contribution to creating over 100 jobs and its plans for further workforce expansion.

During the event, Minister Hem Vandy emphasized the importance of technical skill development and encouraged Daikin to implement knowledge transfer programs to equip local workers with advanced expertise. He also urged the company to lead by example in innovating energy-efficient solutions, aligning with Cambodia’s commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.

In addition to operational expansion, the minister proposed that Daikin explore establishing a manufacturing facility in Cambodia, suggesting potential collaborations with local enterprises on research and development in refrigeration technology. This would further integrate Daikin into Cambodia’s industrial growth narrative while enhancing local innovation capacity.

Daikin, established over 100 years ago in Japan, operates in 170 countries worldwide and has become synonymous with cutting-edge air conditioning technology and energy efficiency. Its decision to expand in Cambodia reflects confidence in its economic potential and a commitment to fostering sustainable development.
