Dara Sakor Airport Flight Validation 60% Complete

The flight validation of key equipment, facilities, and staff capacity at the Dara Sakor airport in Koh Kong province is 60% complete, aiming for completion in June and conducting the first flight test in July.

HE Sin Chansereyvutha, Under-Secretary of State and spokesperson of the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA) said on 29 April that the flight validation could be finished later than scheduled.

“As planned, the company was supposed to start the flight validation in January, but the firm just began in March. There are more than 40 types of technical testing,” said HE Sin Chansereyvutha.

“Upon flight validation completion, the company will conduct flight trials before reaching the stage of commercial operation,” he added.

The airport is being developed by the Union Development Group (UGD). Once complete, the airport will be able to handle large planes such as the Boeing 777 and Airbus A360.
