Angkor Botanical Garden in Siem Reap to Open Soon

The Apsara Authority plans to inaugurate the 15-hectare Angkor Botanical Garden, featuring grass fields, flower gardens, fruit trees, and wildlife for visitors on 9 May 2022, according to the Department of Information in Siem Reap province.

Deputy Director-General of APSARA Authority, Mr Yit Chandarath, said that the Angkor Botanical Garden, located in Siem Reap city, features tens of thousands of 500 species of trees, flowers, and grasses with the garden is more special than other gardens in Cambodia because of its specific Khmer focus and style.

He said that the Angkor Botanical Garden has five sections: a spice garden also with medicinal plants, a flower and grass garden, and a palm garden that grows many kinds of palm plants.

The fourth section is a Khmer garden gathering various kinds of fruit trees, including domestic fruit trees and imported wood, and the fifth is the Angkor Forest and Wildlife Park, which is part of the forest in the Angkor resort area. But it has been redesigned for pathways with water to make it attractive.

The Angkor Botanical Garden is located in Trapeang Ses Village, Kork Chak commune, Siem Reap city.

After the official opening, the park is scheduled to open to the public free of charge within a month, after which the authorities will sell tickets to visitors at cheap prices to cover the garden’s preparation and maintenance.

APSARA Authority expects that the Angkor Botanical Garden will provide more new tourism products to attract tourists to visit Siem Reap.

In the past, Korean Forest Service has come to study and want to create a Korean-style natural park to be built in the Angkor area of Siem Reap, which is a direct copy of Korean standard forest management technology and technology to Cambodia. (Read more)
